Welcome to the home page of Cornell University's Policy Office (UPO). The UPO coordinates the editing, review, issuance, and archiving of all official university policies, presented in eight "subject" volumes: Academic/Research; Facilities; Finance; Governance/Legal; Information Technologies; Human Resources; Student Services; and Risk Management and Public Safety. Within these volumes you will find standardized policies that have been through the official development process, and "legacy" policies that, in time, will be standardized. (Learn what is a "university policy").
Cornell's policies connect the university's mission to the everyday actions of its community, clarify the institution's expectations of its individual members, mitigate institutional risk, enhance efficiency, and support the university's compliance with laws and regulations.
