Technical Requirements for Kronos

Kronos is offered in a Basic (HTML) version and Full (Java) version. Both versions provide the basic functionality of entering time worked and approving timecards. Kronos Full (Java) includes additional functions that payroll representatives (pay reps) frequently use, and that employees and supervisors may need less frequently.

The version of Kronos being used at Cornell is Kronos Workforce Central 6.3.1.

Kronos Basic (HTML)

Kronos Basic (HTML) is recommended for most users. It provides streamlined functionality for entering time, checking accruals, and approving timecards. It works on most browsers, and with Macintosh, Windows, and Linux. It does not use Java or require any other plugins.

For many employees and supervisors, Kronos Basic (HTML) will meet their needs most of the time. However, they may occasionally need to access Kronos Full (Java) for advanced functions such as historical edits, the audit record of changes, creating reports, and creating or adjusting standard work schedules.

CAUTION: Kronos Basic (HTML) is not adequate for pay reps. Their computers need to be set up to use Kronos Full (Java).
