The University Policy Office announces the issuance of revisions to University Policy 1.4, Care and Use of Live Vertebrate Animals in Research and Teaching (formerly “Care and Use of Animals in Research and Teaching”). This policy outlines university expectations regarding animal facilities and programs.
The primary changes to the policy are related to animal facilities and use of non-human primates, where practices are in place, however, the lack of formal communication is problematic for those who use and support the use of animals. The remaining changes are largely clarifying, editorial, and removing extraneous information and references. Below is a summary of those changes:
