Pay Cards

Questions?

Contact us at payroll@cornell.edu. Do not transmit sensitive information, including bank account information, through email.

Cornell has partnered with U.S. Bank to offer employees an easy and secure alternative to receiving paper paychecks. You can use the U.S. Bank Focus Card as you would any Visa® card to pay for in-person or online purchases and pay your bills online. You can add a card to authorize one person to share your card balance, view your transactions online through the cardholder website or mobile app, and withdraw cash at ATMs or at merchants at the point of sale. There’s also a savings account feature. See the attachment for a brief summary of the card benefits.

How It Works

On payday, your pay will be deposited onto the Focus card. Funds are protected* if the card is lost or stolen. Also, all reimbursements you receive through accounts payable will be routed to the card.

After you’re enrolled, you’ll receive your card in the mail with instructions for managing your card online. If you change your mind, you can control your enrollment for the card under Payment Elections in Workday.

*You are generally protected from all liability for unauthorized transactions with Zero Liability. You must call the number on the back of your Card immediately to report any unauthorized use. Certain conditions and limitations may apply. See your Cardholder Agreement for details.

How to Sign Up

To sign up, contact our office and provide your name, address, and date of birth.

Once you receive your new card, you must activate the card and add the card to your payment elections in Workday. Your new card will begin receiving your paycheck with the next upcoming pay period after these changes are made.
