KFS is getting a facelift: Upgrade to KFS 7 to occur in April

Posted: March 30, 2017

On April 23, after a scheduled upgrade completes, KFS users will experience a new look and feel to the Kuali Financial System (KFS). The upgrade to KFS 7 will include usability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

What’s New in KFS 7

Within the new interface, you’ll notice right away that all of the functions of KFS that were formerly organized in tabs have been gathered and organized in a persistent (always accessible) menu that can be hidden to expand the central workspace.

Here are just a few other immediately noticeable improvements:

  • A predictive search function helps you find the e-doc or other feature you need. For example, searching for disbursement displays everything related to disbursements.
  • Users only see options they can access according to their roles.
  • Show or hide functions by type: Activity, Reference, and Administration.
  • Persistent links to Action List, Doc Search, and KFS Help.
  • The Action List and Doc Search screens will display within the KFS environment.
  • E-doc buttons are persistent at the bottom of the window when scrolling.
  • A sign-out feature is available by clicking on your user name.
  • E-docs appear cleaner with more white space and larger, clearer fonts.

And that’s not all! Other enhancements include rendering all functionality within the same browser tab, faster document load speeds, and a variety of bug fixes.

No business functions will change with this upgrade. Cynergy will remain the same for the time being.

More information and pre-upgrade instructions will be provided within the next few weeks.

Webinars will be available beginning April 18. Registration information will follow in the coming days.
