Accounting Data Warehouse (ADW)

A legacy reporting tool called Brio-Hyperion was used before the KFS implementation to access the Accounting Data Warehouse (ADW). This tool was used to create queries, analyze data, and develop reports. This tool is for historical reference only.

Monthly Statements

Monthly Accounting Statements is a legacy reporting tool that delivered reports to campus users via the Brio/Hyperion software tool. This tool is for historical reference only.

Monthly Accounting Statements

Note: This application is secure and can only be accessed by authorized application users.

Accessing Reports

  • Get Brio-Hyperion Software: If you are not currently using Brio, please contact your local PC support to have the required Brio-Hyperion plug-in software installed in your browser.
  • Set a Database Password: ALL new Brio-Hyperion users and existing Brio users who only run queries against datamarts other than ADW need to set a database password for the ADW database.

Set your password

Once you have accessed the system, from the left navigation pane, select Accounting, and then Monthly Accounting Statements.  In the right pane, you'll see links for each accounting statement.

  • Click the first link to get Adobe® Acrobat® Reader if you do not have it. You will need the software to view the new monthly statements.
  • Click the second link for an overview of the reports and account types.
  • Click the third link to launch a tutorial that will guide you through the use of the new reporting tool.
  • Click the remaining links to access the actual monthly reports. Reports created before June 30, 2007 are static PDF files. For reports created after June 30, 2007, you can filter and export the reports to Microsoft Excel.

Reports currently available include the following: Accounts Receivable, Analysis Multiyear, Analysis University Fiscal Year, Commitment, Department Balance, Invested Funds by Month, and Transactions by Month. The following additional reports are updated at fiscal year-end only: Transaction Year-to-date, Accounts Receivable Year-to-date, and Invested Funds Year-to-date.

Account Type determines what activity shows on each report:

Account Type Account Type Description
1 Operating Accounts
2 Accounts Receivable
3 Long-Term Investment Pool (LTIP)
4 Living Trust - CU High Yield Pooled Life Inc Fund (PLIF A)
5 Living Trust - CU Balanced Pooled Life Inc Fund (PLIF B)
6 Living Trust - CU Life Income Fund Pool (PLIF C)
7 Separately Invested Funds
8 Short-Term Investment Pool (STIP)

The monthly account statements information is provided in two formats within one Brio-Hyperion Dashboard.  The month and year (accounting period) determines in which format the report will be presented.

  • For information after July 1, 2007, the report is available in a standard report format and the data is stored in a result set. The result set can be filtered and exported to Microsoft Excel from the "superfilter" section on the Brio report page. Information can be selected by timekey, organization, and department.
  • For information prior to June 30, 2007, the report is stored in a frozen ("static") PDF file. Information can be selected by timekey and organization.

Web Financials

The Web Financials (WebFin) reporting system is a legacy reporting tool that provided access to university accounting data that is in ADW, as well as local WebFin data such as “local” notes (i.e., comments) and commitments entered by authorized users. These local updates allow up-to-the-minute data to be available on the WebFin reports and are available to all users with the appropriate access. WebFin provides transaction and analysis reports by accounting period and year-to-date, as well as the functionality to search transactions over time using multiple criteria. The ADW data is updated nightly from the university's general ledger, while the WebFin data is real-time. This tool is for historical reference only.

Requesting Access

Request access to the financial information in the Web Financials (WebFin) system through your department, organization, or service center WebFin administrator.
