The UBSC, together with the Human Resources (HR) Recruitment and Employment Center, is responsible for HR-related support items.

HR Responsibilities (for Direct Service Units)

  • Affirmative Action Unit Rep
  • HR Unit Rep
  • Compensation, e.g., classification reviews, etc.
  • Employee relations
  • Employment
  • Position description/classifications review every three years
  • Organizational development
  • Policy interpretation
  • Training
  • Current PAWs on file
  • Distribution of HR-related announcements
  • Annual telephone directory review and update
  • Personal dialogues
  • Assistance/consultation, i.e., qualitative issues
  • Attestation process coordination
  • Salary Improvement Program (SIP)
  • Award and equity consultations, e.g., market data, application of SIP program guidelines, etc.

UBSC Responsibilities

  • Financial review and approval (for financial management customers only) for classifications, reclassifications, new positions, reappointments, extensions, rehires, salary adjustments
  • Payroll
  • Student Hires
