June 24, 2011 - Financial Business Service Centers, University and Small Academic Support Services
As with the legacy system, data from the Kuali Financial System (KFS) will be extracted nightly and placed in a data warehouse. To get information from there, most staff will use KFS Dashboards, which make use of Cornell’s centrally supported, Web-based business intelligence system. Users will be able to query KFS directly for balances, functionality similar to account views in Web Financials today. You will be able to access some previous years’ data from the legacy Accounting Data Warehouse through Brio-Hyperion. Using Web Financials, you will be able to access data from July 2004 through June 30, 2010.
Online tutorials are now available for the KFS Dashboards and are a prerequisite for the classroom trainings. See a full list of these tutorials in the KFS Training Library.
You must enroll in CU Learn to take these tutorials. For instructions on how to enroll and find the tutorials you need, see the instructions on the KFS Training Library page.
Classroom trainings for the KFS Dashboards will be held in G10 Biotech with a maximum of 48 attendees. The basics covered in the tutorial will not be covered in these sessions. The training will focus on the organizational view page. Unit and account managers are highly encouraged to attend one of the following sessions:
To sign up for one of these courses, e-mail Corey Merrell by June 27, and she will add them to the Outlook calendar meeting.
In addition, the UBSC has scheduled the following Information Delivery and Reporting (ID&R) lab session for our customers, which will be held in the DFA Training Room at East Hill Plaza. The lab session will be devoted to answering specific questions and assisting with your ID&R needs. If you wish to attend, please send an e-mail request to Laura Landphair by July 15.
To allow for the transition to KFS, e-SHOP will be unavailable from Thursday, June 30 at noon until July 1. In order to ensure that your orders are issued, please submit them by 10:00 a.m. to allow time for approval and processing. All orders must be approved and submitted to vendors by noon. Beginning July 1, access to e-SHOP will occur by selecting “Shop Catalogs” from the KFS main menu. Remember: You will use your NetID and password to access KFS and e-SHOP on July 1.
All e-SHOP users are strongly encouraged to review the KFS “Using e-SHOP” tutorial, which is available now in CU Learn. This training will explain the key differences in the new KFS catalog environment and the changes to "assigning carts."
Until the Kuali Travel module is implemented, “Supervisor” approval of travel reimbursements will be handled in the following manner:
Important note: Travelers must approve all FY11 travel reimbursements in the Travel Reimbursement System by no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 5.
