Reminders About I-9 Processing

September 3, 2009 - University Business Service Center

Please share these important reminders with hiring supervisors in your area regarding processing I-9 forms.

  • Students who are citizens, permanent residents, or foreign nationals with an F-1 visa must submit a completed I-9 to the hiring department.
  • Students who are foreign nationals with visa other than F-1 must submit a completed I-9 to the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO).
  • Please make sure that all fields are completed.
  • Incomplete or incorrect I-9 forms will be returned. Forms with missing signatures and dates, or fields that are left blank, can't be accepted.
  • Departments must enter the date the student starts work in Section 2. If this date is missing, the form will be returned.    Please do not send the student to the Office of Student Employment to complete the I-9.

For the latest version of the I-9 form please refer to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Web site.
