In January 1999, the Institutional Administrative Service Center (I-ASC) was a staff of four, supporting 17 units. In January 2003, ASC’s reporting relationship changed to the Division of Financial Affairs - reporting directly to the Vice President for Finance and University Controller. Later that same year (June 2003), I-ASC changed its name to the University Business Service Center (UBSC) and, by June 2004, had established working transactional relationships with 82 units across campus. A year later, the support increased to approximately 106 units. Currently, we are a staff of 23, supporting 170 departments across 11 operating units.
UBSC is a key player and has been involved in many institutional initiatives and beta tests, such as COLTS, Kronos, Kuali, the online Travel System, Executive Travel, Payment Requests, ACH Payments, e-SHOP, and consultation/collaboration with other BSCs, to name a few.
UBSC is also responsible for the United Way Campaign for the entire Cornell community.
