Kronos is a web-based system that enables employees to easily record their time worked and their time away. Kronos also provides a variety of reporting options for supervisors and payroll representatives, and can be used with time-collection clocks. Kronos has been in use at Cornell since the late 1990s.
Go to Kronos (requires Cornell NetID and password, or alternative login)
Kronos has been upgraded. The logon screen has a brand-new look, to make it easier for people to choose the right logon option for them.
Kronos Basic (HTML) is now recommended as the preferred option for students and nonexempt staff. It can be used from any computer and it provides streamlined ways to enter time, approve timecards, and view accruals for sick, vacation, etc. time.
Kronos Full (Java) is required for pay reps, and some supervisors may also need or prefer it. It provides the same functionality as Kronos Basic (HTML), plus advanced functions typically needed by pay reps and supervisors, such as correcting timecards from previous pay periods; viewing the audit record of changes; creating ad hoc reports; viewing an employee’s "People" record; and creating or adjusting standard work schedules. Kronos Full (Java) is available to everyone, but it requires a specific computer setup (Java 1.6.0_31 is required).
Excellent progress has been made on shifting about 7,000 nonexempt Cornell employees and student employees from recording their time in COLTS to recording their time in Kronos. This effort is planned to be finish by June 2012.
The Cornell Payroll Office is working closely with leaders in every unit that currently uses COLTS to schedule when their employees will move to Kronos, and to provide training options. We are also advising IT leaders.
If you have questions or concerns about this transition, please contact the COLTS-to-Kronos Project team.
