Earnings Codes

Cornell's payroll system uses "earnings codes" to identify the type of earning an employee is paid. Each three-letter earnings code consists of various compensation attributes dictating how the earnings will handle overtime, inconvenience pay, leave accrual, benefits, and taxes. Earnings codes may be generated during the following processes:

  • Time Collection (COLTS or Kronos)
  • UPAF Processing
  • On-Cycle Paylines
  • Off-Cycle Checks

Note: Each pay stub contains a breakdown of all earnings codes used and the associated earnings.
