As you know, as of December 21, 2009, Cornell discontinued direct billing to departments for airfare through American Express due to compliance issues. Since discontinuing that service, due to an inability to negotiate agreeable terms, Cornell has discontinued doing business with American Express for travel-booking services entirely. Any travel that you may have already booked with an American Express agent or the Axiom booking engine will be honored. If you have to make changes to your travel itinerary contact American Express via one of the following options:
Supply Management Services encourages you to use AAA (formerly Stone Travel) for booking Cornell business-related travel. AAA will be loading Cornell’s contract pricing for US Airways, Northwest Airlines, Hertz, National Car Rental, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car into their systems to ensure that you receive the Cornell rate. You may contact them at 607-257-3557 or 800-937-1222.
- Once the trip is ticketed, AAA will email the invoice to the travel arranger. AAA will also send invoices weekly
A new travel Web portal is being developed for booking services to facilitate finding providers who comply with Cornell policies and will be released soon. You will be able to choose from multiple providers, including AAA. This site will have information and links to Cornell’s travel policy; approved travel agencies; airline, hotel, and car rental contracts; and online booking tools.
For updates on Cornell’s travel options, visit the Travel Services Web site at travel.cornell.edu.
