About the Treasurer

Our mission is to support the university's missions of research, teaching, and outreach by providing proper stewardship of its assets.

We achieve this mission by promoting efficiencies and proper accounting practices, securing capital, educating the Cornell community on best practices for banking and risk needs, and developing clear, concise, and strong institutional policies.

Associate Vice President for Finance and University Treasurer
The university's treasury function is headed by Associate Vice President for Finance and University Treasurer Patricia A. Johnson. Ms. Johnson came to Cornell University in January 1995 as the assistant treasurer, and in 1999, became the treasurer of the university. In 2006 and 2007, she served as Cornell’s interim chief investment officer. She is the treasurer of the Cornell Research Foundation and the Cornell Club of New York, and serves on several boards of corporate and not-for-profit organizations in the Ithaca area.

Before coming to Cornell, Ms. Johnson was an investment officer at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, she was the manager of cash administration for the Mead Corporation, and acquired banking experience with Wachovia Bank and Bank of America.
