This is the newsletter for the Kuali Financial System (KFS) implementation project. KFS is a modular, web-based financial system built by and for higher education by the Kuali Foundation, of which Cornell is an active partner. KFS will launch and become Cornell’s book of record on July 1, 2011.
We’re into the double digits now—just 92 days until KFS goes live on July 1! We understand that you are eager to prepare. Please read on for steps you can take now or very soon to get what you need most out of our new financial system.
We have invited staff from the Financial Transaction Centers and central finance offices to enroll for KFS classes so that staff who perform core financial transactions will be able to secure class time prior to July 1. If you aren't a member of DFA or an FTC, please wait to receive direction that it's time for you to sign up for training.
If you work in DFA or an FTC and have not yet heard about enrollment, please contact your director.
As they are finalized, standard operating procedures for KFS e-docs (electronic transactions) will be published on the DFA Tools page. Chart of Accounts e-doc procedures are available now. Please note that any published procedures are subject to modification pending ongoing analysis. Please refer to the Tools page for the most recent version. You can read more about the development of standard operating procedures on the KFS blog.
Supply Management Services (SMS) recently announced news and action items that will help colleges and units prepare for changes related to procurement when KFS goes live. Read the SMS newsletter for important details and steps to take on the following three major changes you should be aware of now:
Look for SMS announcements on procurement changes to come through August.
Open monthly meetings will continue through June to share progress on KFS Information Delivery and Reporting (ID&R) project deliverables including KFS dashboards, KFS application inquiries, and ID&R training. Please consider attending one or more of these update meetings.
If you missed it, see the March update.
Meeting locations may change if attendance exceeds room capacity. To confirm the location, please see the KFS Events page.
Please send project questions to Mike Allmendinger, KFS campus readiness lead, at kfs-feedback@cornell.edu.
Best Regards,
The Kuali Financial System Implementation Team
