Performance Management
Cornell has formalized a set of skills, Skills for Success, which are essential for all Cornell staff members to possess, in addition to the skills and knowledge they bring to their areas of expertise. Skills for Success assists staff members to know clearly what is expected of them, and helps supervisors understand what kind of workplace environment is important to Cornell.

Staff members can expect their supervisors to establish position-specific performance expectations and standards that are based on Skills for Success. The matrix below outlines the characteristics, or demonstrated behaviors, of each performance level within the Skills for Success.
