Leslie Stow Ilene Lambiase

Ilene Lambiase joined Sponsored Program Services (SPS-Financial) on August 1, 2007 as a Team Leader/Manager of Finance. Ilene has an amazing background in management and education, and possesses excellent analytical, supervisory and problem solving skills. Ilene earned a B.S with Distinction from Cornell University and a has completed the equivalent of a Masters degree for teacher certification at SUNY Cortland and Elmira College. Her most recent post was Executive Director of the IACC Child Care Center in Ithaca, where she skillfully led them into a position of financial stability, and managed all aspects of the Center, including fundraising that involved writing grant proposals and administering awards.  Prior to this position, she worked as a math educator in the Danby Elementary School, and was a managing partner for the Kimball Real Estate firm.


Ann Hill Janet Strait

Janet Strait joined Sponsored Program Services (SPS-Financial) on July 18, 2007 as a Team Leader/Manager of Finance. Janet has a solid foundation in accounting and finance, and excellent analytical and supervisory skills.  Janet earned a A.A.S. in Business Administration from Morrisville University and a B.S. in Management from Binghamton Univeristy. Her most recent post was Financial Manager at Franziska Racker Centers, where she had oversight of accounting and reporting functions for several programs and grants there.  Prior to this, she worked in financial positions for various organizations and companies, building an impressive 17 years of experience in many areas of financial service.


Ann Hill Wilson Tarbert

Wilson Tarbert joined Cost and Capital Assets on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 as a Financial Specialist. Wilson comes to us from Fidelity Investments where he has worked as both a Business Analyst and a Professional Accountant. Wilson recently earned his MBA from Binghamton University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Pennsylvania State University.


Ann Hill Jennifer Fraboni

Jennifer Fraboni joined Accounts Payable on July 12, 2007. Jennifer has an AAS degree from SUNY Alfred with a minor in Business. Jennifer brings over 10 years experience of providing customer service as well as accounts payable, insurance claims, billing, and following up on delinquent accounts. She was previously employed by Diamond Auto Glass.


Leslie Stow Patty Carnell

Patty Carnell joined Financial Reporting on May 7, 2007 as a Data Analyst. Patty brings a wealth of experience in data and project management including application and system conversions and interfaces.  Prior to her temporary position in DFA, Patty worked for NYSEG. Patty has an A.A.S. in Business Administration from Tompkins Cortland Community College.


Leslie Stow Kelly Gardner

Kelly Gardner joined Sponsored Programs Services-Financial on Thursday, April 12, 2007. Kelly brings extensive Cornell experience in the areas of accounts payable processing and voucher audit review.  In her most recent position, Kelly was responsible for invoice data entry, insuring appropriate tax coding, and analyzing payment histories to avoid duplicate vendor payments.  Prior to that, she was a voucher audit representative, responsible for review and approval of payment requests, insuring compliance with University policies, and providing customer service to faculty, staff, students and visitors. Kelly holds a B.S. degree from Syracuse University and a M.S. degree from Ithaca College.


Leslie Stow Suzanne Smith

Suzanne Smith joined Sponsored Programs Services-Financial on Thursday, March 15, 2007. Suzanne brings a wealth of Cornell experience in accounting, financial reporting and financial management.  In her most recent position, Suzanne was an accounts representative with Cornell Campus Life where she was responsible for analyzing and preparing various types of expenditure reports, auditing and approving payment requests, and monitoring account activity on monthly transaction statements.  Prior to that, she was an administrative assistant with the Cornell Landscape Architecture Department. Suzanne earned an A.S. degree in Business Administration from Tompkins Cortland Community College and has also completed the Cornell Accounting Certificate & Cornell Office Professional Certificate Programs.

Leslie Stow Susan Hoadley

Sue Hoadley has joined General Accounting, Thursday, March 1, 2007, as the Assistant Manager of Accounting.  Sue brings a wealth of experience in financial reporting, forecasting, planning, analysis and not-for-profit financial management.  In her most recent position, Sue was a Forecasting Planning & Analysis Manager for CUFA Accounting & Financial Services where she was responsible for the financial aspects of Planning Design & Construction (PDC), Contracts & Capital Projects, Environmental Compliance Office, Environmental Health & Safety, and Cornell University Police. Prior to that, she was the Controller for Buffalo State College Faculty-Student Association for twelve years. Sue earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting and Finance from St. Bonaventure University – New York and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting and Management Information Systems from State University of New York at Buffalo.

 


Leslie Stow Pamela Plotkin

Pamela Plotkin has joined Sponsored Program Services as Deputy Director as of March 12, 2007. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Sponsored Program Services, she will provide leadership and oversight to entire SPS organization. Pamela was the Assistant Vice President for Research and Director of Sponsored Programs at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), a position that she held for 5 years.  At ETSU she oversaw pre-award and post-award non-financial; served as a liaison to research compliance committees; oversaw electronic research administration; coordinated internal funding programs for faculty; and developed workshops for faculty, staff and students on everything from writing competitive grant proposals to the responsible conduct of research. Prior to her position at ETSU, she served as Director of Sponsored Programs at Frostburg State University (Maryland).  Earlier in her career, Pamela spent 15 years as a researcher in academia, first as a post-doctoral scientist at Drexel University, and later as an Assistant Professor of Ecology at the University of Delaware.

Chris Loucks has joined the Financial Reporting group, Friday, March 16th as a Financial Specialist. Chris brings a wealth of experience as a data information specialist.  He has worked for IBM for the past eight years in the areas of system migrations, conversions, deployment and training. Chris recently received his Master Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Binghamton and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from SUNY Brockport.

Leslie Stow joined the Divison on February 12, 2007 as an Account Representative in the Accounting area. Leslie brings 22 years of accounting and customer service experience. She comes to us from Crop & Soil Sciences at Cornell.  Prior to that, she was a Loan Operations Manager at Chemung Canal Trust Company in Elmira for 11 years. Leslie has a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting Concentration from Cornell University.

Sue Payne Sue Payne

Sue Payne joined the Divison on February 5, 2007. Sue is reporting to Anne Shapiro and Jeff Silber as Administrative Assistant helping to support both of their areas. Sue brings over 23 years of administrative experience from both Cornell and Corning Incorporated. She comes to us from the Classics Department at Cornell. Prior to that, she was the Assistant to the Director of Business Technology at Corning Inc.  Some of you may remember Sue from her work in Publications Services and Communications Strategies when she was located down the hall here at East Hill Plaza.

Ann Hill Ann Hill

Ann Hill joined the General Accounting Department on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 as the Plant Accountant. Ann brings over 20 years of accounting experience to Cornell.  She comes to us from Paxar Corporation in Sayre where she was the Plant Accountant. She has also worked as an accountant in the medical field at Guthrie Clinic and Cayuga Medical Center. Ann has an A.A.S. degree from Dutchess Community College.

Ming  Ming Liu Bengsston

Ming Liu joined our staff in July as Assistant Manager and was promoted to Manager of Accounting on November 16, 2006. She will play a leading role in the coordination and preparation of the university's financial statements.  Prior to coming to Cornell, Ming was employed by the City of Chicago, Department of Cultural Affairs since 1997.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Beijing Capital Normal University, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Chicago, and is a CPA.

Ed Wilson joined the staff of the Office for Purchasing Services on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 as Manager of Procurement Services for the Scientific team.  Ed brings over 15 years of experience in procurement and contracting.  In his most recent position, Ed served as a Senior Contracting Officer for the National Institute of Health, and his supply management experience includes Northrop Grumman, and the Department of Defense Contract Management Agency.  In addition, Ed was a member of the United States Navy and served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

verma Amita Verma

Amita Verma joined the staff of the Office for Purchasing Services on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 as Manager of Procurement Services for the Technology & Graphics team.  Amita brings a wealth of experience in process re-engineering, leading teams, and delivering customer-focused enhancements.  In her most recent position, Amita was Director of Risk Management, Prepaid Services for American Express, where she led an international team of managers and analysts. Amita has earned a Six Sigma Black Belt, and has used her knowledge to deliver measurable results for both the customers and organizations she has served.  She has also earned an MBA from DePaul University, an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Utah, and an M.Sc. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, India.

Lobdell Brandy Lobdell

Brandy Lobdell joined the Payroll Office as an Account Representative on Thursday, October 19, 2006. Her primary responsibilities focus on processing labor distribution changes, retroactive adjustments, customer inquiries, Brio reports, support production processing, and help with overall office support. Brandy may be known by some of us from her prior CU experience in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and in the Family Life Development Center.  Brandy is active in her local fire department and more importantly, has training in emergency services.

Thompson Sherry Thompson

Sherry Thompson joined the University Business Service Center as a Customer Service Representative on Monday, October 9, 2006. Sherry has 23 years of financial experience and comes to us from Human Development, where she managed grants and contracts, and provided administrative and human resource functions for the department.

Ken Naughton Ken Naughton

Ken Naughton joined the staff of the Office for Purchasing Services as Procurement Analyst on Monday, October 2, 2006.  Ken is a graduate of Clarkson and holds a B.S. in e-Business: Global Supply Chain Management. Ken has recently served as Global Sourcing Project Manager & Commodity Manager for Eaton Corporation.  Prior to Eaton, Ken worked as a management intern for Corning.  In Ken's new role, he will be working on a variety of initiatives related to analyzing strategic sourcing opportunities.

Mark Fallon joined Sponsored Program Services on September 25, 2006 as a Grant and Contract Officer I.  Mark recently relocated to the region from New York City where he had significant contract, intellectual property, and negotiation experience with New Line Cinemas, Morgan Stanley, ABC/Walt Disney, and Time, Inc.

Patty Hall joined DFA on Monday, September 18, 2006 as a member of the Disbursement Review and Tax group.  Patty's primary responsibilities relate to post-transaction reviews, training and communications, and customer service.  Patty is a Southern Tier resident (Candor) and was previously employed as Controller for Upstate Shredding, LLC.  Patty holds a B.A. in Accounting and a M.B.A., both from Ithaca College.

The Office for Purchasing Services is pleased to announce the hiring of Belinda Leonardo as a Purchasing Agent for the Graphics team as of May 16, 2006.  Belinda has extensive experience in the printing and graphics field. In her most recent position, she served as the lead estimator for a major commercial printer based in central New York. She is a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a wealth of knowledge and a customer-service focus.

 Linda Griswold

Linda Griswold joined Sponsored Program Services on May 8, 2006 as a Grant and Contract Officer. Linda worked in the Veterinary College for twenty years and most recently in the Office of Research and Graduate Education (ORGE) for fifteen years. Linda was responsible for many of the proposal submissions going to small Associations, Foundations, and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as well as other agencies. She holds an A.A.S. in Business Administration from TC3.

Hogan Tom Hogan

Thomas M. Hogan was named Director of University Procurement as of March 20, 2006. Tom Hogan, comes to Cornell from Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corporation, where he served as Vice President for Procurement and Strategic Supply. Tom has 20 years experience in purchasing services with expertise in the following areas: contract development, cost reduction, eProcurement, negotiations, policies and procedures, project management, and strategic planning. Tom is not new to Ithaca; he graduated from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell.

Brian Kay joined the Bursar office on March 16, 2006 as a Programmer/Analyst. Brian comes  Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, New York.  His background is a good mix of customer service, accounting, and technology. Tammy Melton joined the Payroll Office on January 26, 2006. She comes from CBORD Group where she was a database manager.  Tammy has an A.A.S. in Computer Support and Computer Information Systems from TC3. She also has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from NY Institute of Technology.

 Fidela Sindihebura

Fidela Sindihebura came to DFA as Bank Accountant in December 2005, has been promoted to Senior Accountant as of November 16, 2006. Fidela  will provide support for interim and year end closings, financial statement preparation and analysis, and training and guidance to university departments on general accounting policies and procedures.  Prior to coming to Cornell, she was the Senior Accountant at Alternatives Federal Credit Union.  Fidela holds an A.A.S. in Accounting from the National University of Rwanda, a B.S. in Business Management from Burundi University and a B.P.S. in Accounting from Empire State College.


 Sarah Fitzgerald

Sarah Fitzgerald joined the Cost and Capital Assets area as a Financial Analyst on December 1, 2005.  Sarah has 17 years of cost accounting experience, most recently as the Business Analyst/Accounting Manager at Kilian Manufacturing in Syracuse.  She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Bentley College and a M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. 


 David Hegelein

Dave Hegelein, who had been in Unrestricted Funds since November 2005, was promoted to Accounting Supervisor as of November 16, 2006. He supervises the three-person work team (Carol Wilson, Inez Schweizer and MaryAnn's former position) responsible for providing support to departments on new account requests, general ledger and transaction attributes, and year-end closing.  Dave began his Cornell tenure as an accounts rep in the Johnson Graduate School of Management.  Prior to that, he was Vending Controller for Aramark Corp.  Dave has an A.A.S. Degree in Accounting from TC3.

Julie joined the Payroll Office on Monday, August 22, 2005. She previously worked at Cornell Fingerlakes Credit Union as a teller and customer service representative. Julie will provide general office support for a wide variety of functions that relate to the processing of University Payroll. Julie holds an A.A.S. in Business Administration from TC3.


 Camila Fontanez

Camila joined the Payroll Office on Friday, August 19, 2005. She comes to us from Alternatives Federal Credit Union where she was a member service specialist and Visa loan assistant. Camila will be responsible for Direct Deposit operation and PeopleSoft testing with proposed electronic advice project. 


 Nicole Stumbo

Nicole joined Accounts Payable on June 1, 2005.  Nicole is a member of the Class of 2005 from Cornell University with a B.S in Applied Economics and Management.


 Sadye Soule-Halpin

Sadye joined the UBSC as a Financial Transaction Specialist on March 7, 2005. Sadye comes to us with related experience having worked at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals as well as the Department of Nutritional Sciences.  Sayde holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from SUNY Cortland.


 Cynthia Morehouse

Cindy joined the Bursars Office as the Associate Bursar on March 7, 2005. Cindy was previously our Assistant Bursar for Student Loans and left to accept the Director of Student Accounts position at the University of Cincinnati, where she oversaw the student accounts operation and worked on issues such as e-billing and the 1098-T reporting process. Cynthia holds a B.S. from Nazareth college in Rochester, N.Y.


 Leah Barry

Leah joined the Payroll Office on October 25, 2004. Leah most recently was Office Manager for Cortland Podiatry Associates. She was a past member of the American Payroll Association while employed at Buckbee-Mears in Cortland and handled the payroll Kronos timekeeping for eleven years. Leah holds an A.A.S. in Business Administration from TC3 and a B.S. from Excelsior College.

Shannon joined the UBSC as a Financial Transaction Specialist on Monday, October 4, 2004. Shannon comes to us with a business accounting background as well as many years of experience in customer service. For the past two years she has been working at the Lama Insurance Agency.


 Kay Ford

Before joining the VP's Office on June 24, 2004, Kay was employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Cornell Theory Center.  She has more than 20 years of Cornell experience.  From 1987-2001 she was the Office Manager for the Cornell Football Office. Kay holds an Associates degree in Business Administration from TC3.

Laran joined the Financial Systems group on June 14, 2004. He joins us after several years of software development experience with Cyzygy Multimedia and Azurn Networks both based out of Boston, MA. Laran will be working as a Programmer/Analyst on the software development team. Laran holds a B.A. in Biology from Boston University.


 Robert Emborski

Robert joined the Payroll Office on April 16, 2004.  He holds an M.S. in Information Resource Management from Syracuse University. His primary assignment will be to work as an analyst on the automation of such tasks as labor distribution adjustments.  He has worked as an analyst in the corporate sector and taught systems analysis as Syracuse.


  Shelly Stark

As of November 24, 2003 Shelly is the newest financial transaction specialist within the UBSC.  Shelly brings 10 years of Cornell experience which includes knowledge of purchasing, accounting, and procurement card processing.


  Judy Chamberlain

Judy joined the UBSC on November 27, 2003 as an administrative assistant.  She previously occupied this position as a temporary employee. Judy brings 15 years of Cornell experience, along with her outgoing customer service skills.


 Betsy McMullin

Betsy started on November 5th, in the position of bank accountant. Betsy recently relocated with her family from Bradenton, Florida, where she worked at Gevity HR, Inc as payroll specialist, sales and service coordinator, accounts receivable manager, accounts payable manager, and, most recently, as senior cash accounting specialist.


 Barbara Sutton

Barbara joined the Disbursement Review and Tax staff on Sept. 16, 2003. She holds a B.A. from Pace University with a major in Accounting. Barbara most recently served as President and CFO of Voyagers International Tours, Inc. She has 22 years of diversified accounting and finance experience. She also has extensive experience in the areas of customer service, policy development, and information technologies.


 Nathan Hamlisch

Nathan joined DFA as the data modeler for financial information systems projects. He joined the effort to define and validate financial systems databases with an immediate focus on models for the next generation general ledger. Nathan came from NYSEG where he was an information services senior analyst and holds a B.S. in Mathematics from SUNY Cortland.


 Steve Stein 

Steve joined the Financial Systems group as an analyst. Most recently, he has been working for the Campus Store. He will be working closely with Arthur Mintz to understand and document business requirements and design financial information systems for the university. Steve holds a B.S. in IE/CS from Cornell.
