Division of Financial Affairs Visual Identity

The Division of Financial Affairs logo was unveiled at the general staff meeting in November of 2002.  This information has been made available to provide a description and some general guidelines regarding the use of the division logo.

Use of the division logo must be in keeping with university guidelines for the university's visual identity. University guidelines place restrictions on the size and placement of unit logos. For detailed information regarding the university logos as well as placement and size of unit logos, please go to Cornell's Visual Identity .

 General Logo Information

The primary composition of the DFA logo is a triangle composed of three smaller red triangles and an inverted white triangle, with the letters "DFA" centered in the inverted triangle. The typface for these letters is Palatino. The color red used in all cases is PMS 186 (CC0000). The words "Partners," "Stewards," and "Innovators" are also included in the logo, in one of two fashions (depending upon the logo's use).

Web or E-mail Use:

For the purpose of legibility, when the logo is used in non-print media (Web pages or email, for example), the words "Partners," "Stewards," and "Innovators" will appear in black, centered on each side of the large triangle. The typeface for these words is Myriad.

Print Use:

When the logo is used in print, the small red triangles will be bordered in black. The words "Partners," "Stewards," and "Innovators" will appear in white, along an arc completely contained within the bottom half of each of the three small red triangles. The typeface for these words is Comic Sans MS.

 Uses of the Division Logo

Whenever the DFA logo is used, it must be large enough to be legible. The logo must not be altered in any way. Its perspective must not be skewed, and the colors must not be changed.

Letterhead:

This logo may be used in the bottom 9 picas (1 1/2 inches) of the letterhead.

Web:

The Web logo will be worked into our new web page design, and will appear at the bottom of Division of Financial Affairs pages.

E-mail:

Although you cannot paste a graphic file into your SAVED signature, you can paste it into your signature or your email after you have created the email. Therefore, if you wish to do so, keep a handy copy of the "Web version" of the logo on your desktop (download instructions are at the bottom of this page). After you have written the email, but before you send it, insert the graphic in the following manner:

    1. Place your cursor in the e-mail at the spot where you want the graphic inserted
    2. At the top of your Eudora window, choose "Edit," then "Insert," then "Picture"
    3. If necessary, navigate to your desktop (probably not necessary)
    4. Double-click on the file (DFAlogoWEBsm.jpg), or select it and click "Open." Your file will appear in your e-mail wherever you have placed your cursor
